Latest News from QCA: New KS2 MFL Schemes of Work and New Publications


A new key stage 2 scheme of work for French is now available from QCA. It consists of 12 units and a teacher’s guide and suggests strategies to meet the objectives of the Key Stage 2 Framework for Languages (DfES, 2005).

German and Spanish schemes will be published in late summer 2007.

The DfES recently published the Key stage 2 framework for languages to support the entitlement of every child aged 7 to 11 to learn a new language. This QCA guidance shows the links between this framework and the learning objectives of the QCA scheme of work for key stage 2 French. The guidance can be downloaded from this page.

In April 2005, the QCA MFL team produced and distributed to LEAs a booklet that brings together much of the information to be found on these MFL subject pages and elsewhere on the QCA website. This booklet can be downloaded from http://www.qca.org.uk/13501.html .
